SHOOTING

On July 3, 2021, at approximately 10:37 P.M., Geneva County Deputies received a call to 3957 Gopher Ridge Road Samson, Alabama 36477 within Geneva County in reference to a shooting that took place at the given location. Upon arrival, deputies found a deceased male lying in the yard of the residence located at 3957 Gopher Ridge Road Samson, Alabama within Geneva County.
The male was identified as Alberto Guerra Jr . Guerra suffered what appeared to be a single gunshot to the left torso of his body. Guerra was pronounced deceased while at the scene by Geneva County Coroner Donny Adkison. A single witness, present at the time of the shooting, identified David Allen Morris as the offender and supplied information that he was driving a 2020 Kia Forte. A BOLO was issued for the suspect and the vehicle to surrounding agencies.
A Florala Police Department Officer was able to locate the Kia Forte in which was the vehicle described by the witness, as the vehicle that Morris was operating at the time of the incident. Covington County Deputies, Geneva County Deputies and Investigators, and Samson Police Department Officers then responded to the area of the City of Florala to better locate Morris. The decision was made to attempt to contact Morris at the residence in which the Kia Forte was located and is believed to be the residence of Morris.
On July 4, 2021, at approximately 5:00 A.M., Law Enforcement Officers went to the residence in which the Kia Forte was located and believed residence of Morris, located at 1361 7th Street Florala, Alabama to make contact with Morris. Upon arrival and knocking on the door of the residence located at 1361 7th Street Florala, Alabama, David Allen Morris exited the residence and was taken into custody by Law Enforcement Officers without incident.
Morris is currently charged with Murder and being held in the Geneva County Jail with bond set at $250,000.00.
This case is still ongoing, and the investigation has not been concluded. Another person of interest is being sought in connection with this case who may have been a witness.
