MORE DRUGS OFF THE STREETS

On July 16, 2021, Investigator Cory Dean received information that Joe Titus Johnson was driving a Chevrolet Cavalier, blue in color. Johnson had an active warrant out of Geneva County Sheriff's Office.
On July 16, 2021, at approximately 05:40 P.M., Sheriff Tony Helms conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Cavalier bearing Alabama license plates 34AP598 at the intersection of Sizemore Hwy and W Robin Ave in Geneva, AL within Geneva County. Sheriff Helms identified the driver and lone occupant to be Joe Titus Johnson.
Sheriff Helms took Johnson into custody for the outstanding warrant. Upon searching Johnson's right cargo pocket, Sheriff Helms recovered approximately 1 1/2 ounces of white crystallized substance believed to be methamphetamine/ICE. Also located on Johnson's person, in his waistband on the right side of his back was a handgun.
Johnson was arrested for the outstanding warrant, as well as the charges of Drug Trafficking and Carrying Concealed Weapon without a Permitt. Johnson was transported and booked in the Geneva County jail without incident.
Sheriff Helms was assisted by Inv Cory Dean, Chief Deputy Danny Staley, Deputy Jeff Lindsey, and the Alabama Drug Enforcement Task Force.
