On May 30, 2022, at approximately 01:40 A.M., Investigator Cory Dean was notified by 34 Central of a shooting that had occurred at County Road 105 Hartford, Alabama 36344 within Geneva County.  34 Central advised that the victim and suspect were located at West Malvern Highway, Malvern, Alabama, within Geneva County with Deputy Andrew Armstrong.  Investigator Dean responded to that location.

Investigator Dean was able to obtain information relayed to Deputy Armstrong from the victim, Charles Carter, claiming that his mother, Linda Bass, shot him while at her residence located at County Road 105 Hartford, Alabama within Geneva County.  Through further investigation, execution of a search warrant, and interviews revealed evidence supporting the fact that Bass, while located on or near the front porch of her residence, shot Carter, while located in the front yard of Bass's residence, in the leg.  Carter then fled the scene and spotted Deputy Armstrong where he then asked for assistance.  Evidence supports that person was unarmed.

Bass was arrested and transported to the Geneva County Jail where she was booked in for the crime of Assault in the 1ST Degree.

All persons are innocent until proven guilty.
